Introduction to the Intervis® Self-Tapping Socket
In soft and medium-hard materials, such as light alloys, plastics, and compressed woods, your threads can easily be damaged by wear due to repeated stresses or excessive, too frequent tightening of screws, which can cause threads to be pulled out, making them unusable.
To improve the strength and maintenance of your assemblies, we have designed an innovative self-tapping socket: The Intervis® self-tapping socket.
Within the group, we developed the Intervis® brand, which is a threaded slotted insert whose purpose is to reinforce the solidity of your assemblies while reducing installation time.
This threaded self-tapping socket acts like a tap, allowing you to screw it directly into a smooth hole without requiring pre-tapping since these self-tapping sockets themselves form their threads into the material to ensure a sturdy and secure attachment!
We recommend the use of Self-Tapping Sockets Intervis in aluminum fasteners, as their surface treatment eliminates the risk of corrosion between the two materials, which is convenient for fasteners exposed to humid conditions.
An intervis self-tapping socket offers several advantages:
At Gardette Industries, different ranges of self-tapping sockets Intervis Are available, made of various materials such as Crude Steel (SCTA), Zinc-plated Steel without chrome 6 (SCT), Brass or Stainless Steel.
This diversity of materials allows self-tapping threaded sockets to be inserted into many different materials such as:
In short, in almost all materials, including ferrous and non-ferrous metals with low shear strength.
Threaded sockets Intervis are equipped with cutting slots. When inserted into a hole, they create their own threads (Hence the term self-tapping threaded insert).
This ensures a secure and durable anchoring in the mounting material. Thanks to the thread of the Intervis threaded insert, it is permanently anchored in the workpiece, which will allow your assembly greater resistance to shocks and vibrations.
Our Threaded Inserts Intervis are available in 3 different surface treatments:
And available in 3 versions
INTERVIS®, made of steel, brass or stainless steel, is a metal socket with standardized tapping and an appropriate external thread. It has a truncation and a slit with sharp edges.
